CHALLENGE #84
Read Philippians 2:1-11 Who do you look up to? Is there someone in your life that you see as a role model? There are loads of people who can inspire us to be better, but there is no one more suited as a role model than Jesus. Today’s reading reminds us we should have the attitude of Christ and live like Christ did. Today, find one thing you could do to sacrificially serve someone close to you.
CHALLENGE #83
Read Hebrews 10:24-25 Ever notice how your mood lifts if you’re around someone who is happy or laughing? Or how, when you listen to someone talking really passionately about something, you get a bit excited about it too? Moods & attitudes are infections. When it comes to our faith it’s especially important to chat with people who share our enthusiasm for God so we can motivate & encourage each other.
Today, find someone who shares your faith and get excited about it together. Your zeal for God will rub off on each other & you’ll both be freshly encouraged to love and live for God.
CHALLENGE #82
Read Romans 8:28 Sometimes God tells us ‘no’. We won’t always like it or understand why, we just need to accept that He has a plan for us & knows what’s best. And we need to learn to accept His ‘no’. Is there something you really, really, really want? Have you tried heaps of ways to get it but nothing seems to work? Maybe God is stopping you for a reason. Pray for guidance in seeking His will & not your own.
Sometimes God makes it really clear He's happy with us
CHALLENGE #81
take the time to notice God around you
CHALLENGE #80
Read Mark 1:35, Matthew 14:23 & Luke 6:12 Life gets busy sometimes & we get distracted by all sorts of things. We often fill the gaps in our day with time stealers like TV, internet, text chats & yup especially Facebook! Do you ever get so busy/distracted you don’t have time to chat with God? Any relationship stays strong when we keep in touch. God always loves to hear from us. What can you give up or do less of to make time to pray?
CHALLENGE #79
Read Romans 8:26-27 At my home group last night we talked about prayer & realised many of our prayers are more like instructions to God! i.e we have a problem & think we know the best way to solve it so pray for specific solutions instead of trusting God to provide the best answer. We say “God please do this’” instead of “God this is my problem, please help”. We forget that God may have a different way He wants to solve it & that He is far more qualified to know what’s best for us. Got a problem you need solved? Share it with God & allow Him to provide His solution.
CHALLENGE #78
Read Luke 10:38-41 Do you ever get so caught up in things that you forget to do something really important? Sometimes life distracts us enough that we end up putting priority on things that just aren’t as important as we think they are. God wants us to enjoy life and get things done, but He shouldn’t be forgotten in the process. Are you still putting God first? Today think about the things you think are important and ask yourself if God would think they were as important. If the answer is no, then reprioritise.
CHALLENGE #77
Read Genesis 1 I spent yesterday planting my vegetables, which I’d grown from seeds. It’s quite a miraculous process to put a tiny seed in the ground & watch it grow into a plant that will feed me. This little piece of creation happening in my garden reminded me that God is in the detail of everything. As we go through life we sometimes forget the glory of all He has created for us & that it’s all around us every day. Take a moment today to stop & marvel the detail of God’s creation in your life.
CHALLENGE #76
Read Matthew 14:13-21 Ever feel you don’t have what it takes to solve a problem? What’s your first response in a tough situation? Do you get anxious? complain? make a plan? or panic? Matthew 6:33 tells us to look to God first in all that happens. We don’t know how or when He’ll intervene in our lives, all we need to know is that He can & He has resources far greater than we can imagine. So think of the single biggest problem you face now, look to God, give thanks & trust He will provide you with a solution.
CHALLENGE #75
Read Deuteronomy 6:4-9 A valued & much appreciated member of our Bible Society family retired today after 18 yrs of dedicated service. At his farewell we reminisced about all the things he’s achieved over the years & the countless lives he’s helped change. By living according to today’s verse he leaves a legacy that inspires us all. Do you love the Lord with all you have? Does it reflect in the way you live? Today, ask yourself “how can I leave a legacy for God?” ... and then do it.
CHALLENGE #74
Read Psalm 139:13-14 Ever been called 2 tall, 2 short, 2 fat, 2 thin or 2 anything? Paul the apostle was called all sorts of names & even criticised for the way he talked. He chose to believe in himself & God. He didn’t listen to what people said & went on to do so much for God. What people say isn’t as important as what God says about you & He made you! Next time you get criticised challenge yourself to remember Gods vision of you instead of letting their words hurt you.
CHALLENGE #73
Read Matthew 5:14-16 Do you ever think your efforts are lost in the grand scale of things? That the little things you do as a Christian go unnoticed? If you’ve ever been in the dark when someone turns on a torch, you know it’s not hard to see the light. In the same way, one believer who lets their light shine can really make a difference. Do something this weekend that makes your light shine bright.
CHALLENGE #72
Read Matthew 25:34-40 We all do different things on Father’s Day to show our Dad we love him, but what about the father of all fathers? What did you do for Him? Take time today to thank Him by turning your love for Him into action and do something to help someone around you.
CHALLENGE #71
Read 1 John 5:14-15 Often we can be impatient if our prayers aren’t answered, or disappointed if it’s not the answer we wanted. We may not always like or understand the answer but we must remember that it will always be the ‘best’ answer because it fits God’s will for us. Today think about prayers you felt weren’t answered the way you hoped – Did you learn something else from the answer you got? Here's a poem that might help your thinking.

CHALLENGE #70
Read Psalm 103:8-12 Sometimes we carry guilt, hurt, sadness or other negative feelings with us – things from our past that we can’t seem to shake. They can block our view of what’s ahead & lead us away from God. Are you still living in the past, or looking to the future & the awesome things God has planned for you? Your challenge today is to let go of your past & focus on your future ... your future with God.
CHALLENGE #69
Read Exodus 4:10-11 Ever think you’re not good enough? Moses stuttered, Gideon was insecure, Martha was a worrier, Thomas was a doubter, Sarah was impatient, Jacob was a cheater, Peter had a temper, David had an affair, Noah got drunk, Jonah ran from God, Zaccheus was short, Abraham was old & Lazarus was dead - what's YOUR excuse? God loves to use imperfect, ordinary people to do awesome things. Today, ask God how He can use you.
CHALLENGE #68
Read Proverbs 15:4 Ever have a bad day & then someone said something nice & you felt better? Or maybe they said something nasty & made it worse? Even when it seems impossible, if it’s His will we must have faith in Him & trust He can make it happen.

So, Go on – just read it – TODAY!
CHALLENGE #62
Read 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 Do your help others cos it’s the Christian thing to do? Today’s verse reminds us that it’s not so much about what we do for others but what motivates us to do it. CHALLENGE #61
Read 1 Kings 18:41-45 Do you have faith in something but no evidence it’s gonna happen? 1 Kings 18 tells us to keep praying, even if you feel like there’s no hope & your faith is tested.
