This is how excited Bridgette was when we told her she’d been chosen.

Tell us a bit about your faith journey - how you came to know Jesus, and how is he part of your life now?

I was raised Catholic and stayed Catholic, but it's been through youth groups, leading retreats and camps, and just generally asking questions, about things that I used to take for granted, that I think I have come to understand the church. Big turning point was being able to go to World Youth Day in Sydney 2008. Meet a lot of awesome people and learn a lot about myself and God...so cool.

What's your favourite verse? and why?

Wow... um... gotta say Psalm 139; I think it's amazing how it describes how God knows everything about us and has a plan for us right from birth.

What's your favourite way to worship?

Listening to praise and worship music, or adoration.

Why is the Bible important to you?

Because it gives me something I need! I need guidance, I need a push in the right direction, I need to understand the church, I need to know the purpose and plan that God has for me and I need to know about Christ's death on the cross for me.

What's your favourite place to read your Bible?

Sitting in bed actually hahaha

What are some things that you LOVE doing?

Being outdoors and just having fun :) Really love spending time with people that are special to me - my boyfriend, my friends and family.

What are some things that you HATE doing?

Eating dried apricots eh! Urgh! Totally not a fan. Other than that, just general things that suck the fun outa life like tests and assignments at Uni and paying such a high price for petrol.

What Bible study resources do you use?

Word for Today is pretty awesome - and Word for You today; the youth version. That's pretty sweet too. I recently bought a 'Life Application Bible' which explains all the bits I find I just don't understand. It's so amazing!

What are you most looking forward to on the mission adventure?

Just everything eh! The whole idea of being immersed in something totally new is really exciting, especially in another country.

Which 'Change Lives Today' challenge have you found the most challenging?

Gotta say - the first one was pretty challenging, because it meant actively getting off my butt and doing something. Sometimes it's so easy to just think 'meh - I'll do it later...'

What would you like people who are following your trip to pray for?

Pray that God helps me in so many ways! In preparation, in undertaking, in sharing about it with others and that I can really make the most of it : )

Are you nervous about anything on the trip?

Not at the moment, but I bet I will wake up the morning I am about to leave and panic...just you wait...

Anything else you want to tell people?

Just a bit about me. Bridgette in a nutshell:
20 years old, middle child with 2 sisters who are just the best, currently studying science at Waikato University (Bio major! Yay geeks!), interested in travel & soccer, speaks German to a reasonable extent.

Your Questions Answered

Q. If you had a time machine and could travel to any event in the Bible, where would you go and why?

I would go back to the time of Jesus ministry. To sit at His feet and get to know Him.
Just all the little things, like seeing what he looked like, would be amazing! Other than that, I think travelling WAY back to the beginning of time, when God made the world and everything in it. Haha it would be so cool to see something so complex taking place!

Q. Who is your favourite Bible character and how have they influenced a change in your life?

Gotta say Matthew, cuz he switched his writing talent from writing rip-off deals for tax payers, to writing one of the greatest books of all time -the gospel: after he chose to give up everything to follow Jesus. Pretty sweet turnover really, going from zero to hero within the space of a day!

Q. Bridgette, aside from your Bible, what’s one thing you couldn’t possibly leave home without when you go on your mission adventure to the south pacific?

Earplugs... cuz I bet Heather snores... :P
Haha - but no seriously: probably my jandals, and a water-proof; bounce-proof; shock-proof camera!
