Kapiti Action Group Coffee Mornings 09

Jun 19, 2009

The Kapiti Action Group has held two ‘Coffee Mornings’ in the past six weeks. The first was held on Monday 4 May at the Waikanae Baptist Church and the second on Monday 15 June at the Kapiti Uniting Parish in Raumati.

Over 60 people attended the Waikanae event and over 40 people attended the Raumati event.People had come to hear former All Black and retired Prison Chaplain, Nev MacEwan. Nev shared with us about his life, God’s faithfulness and his work in New Zealand prisons. Nev has seen many lives changed in prisons and he told us about some of these changed lives. Each year Bible Society gives Bibles free of charge to prisoners here in New Zealand through the Prison Chaplains. Last year we gave 3,411 Bibles in 19 languages at a cost of $73,000. An offering was taken at both ‘Coffee Mornings’ so that we can provide more Bibles to prisoners this year.

Thanks to the Waikanae Baptist Church and the Kapiti Uniting Parish for providing their premises to us to use at no cost. Thanks also to the Action Group members for providing the morning tea and to Nev MacEwan for being our guest speaker.
I am sure many people were inspired, encouraged, challenged and touched by Nev’s sharing.
