Hawera Bible Quiz Report 2010
Jul 30, 2010
A very enjoyable afternoon was hosted by local church ‘The Belmont’, where 6 quiz teams from among 35 people of keen church congregations gathered for fun and fellowship. One team included a blind contestant with her guide dog.
Pastor Neil Wallis of ‘The Belmont’ read the questions, announced our scores in stages before telling us the correct answers, and regaled us with stories.
The 2010 bank of 100 questions was prepared by the Bible Society Auckland Regional Committee. The study information was circulated prior to the event to help the teams prepare. Some questions were easy, others searching, all nicely centred in E100 Challenge readings from Jonah, Malachi, and writings of the Apostle Paul.
An offering was taken for paper for printing Bibles at the Amity Press in China. During afternoon tea, there was time to talk and circulate. Certificates were presented to the participants, with a trophy for the winning team.
Teams were very close in their final scores, indicating good preparation. The winning team was made up of members of The Belmont, and teams from Seventh Day Adventist and Salvation Army churches came a close second and third, followed by a Baptist team, another from The Belmont and then another Seventh Day Adventist team
