New Plymouth Hymnfest
Jul 21, 2008
Sunday 13 July saw approximately 100 people attend Bible Society's New Plymouth Action Group annual Hymnfest on a lovely sunny afternoon.
Folk just loved the well-known hymns and sung with gusto "All Glory, Laud and Honour' and "All Creatures of Our God And king" plus many others.
There was a good variety of items performed.
Cathy Dobson sang accompanied by Harry Brown. Cathy is blind but is a wonderful musician and plays and sings for many organisations and at many of the rest homes in New Plymouth.
Other performances were by Margaret McConachie, a well-known viola player; Harry Brown on the organ and Welsh singer Leuan Evans with a voice that I’m sure will be heard in heaven.
Archdeacon Ray Taylor compered in his usual interesting and humerous manner and also gave background information on most of the hymns sung.
Monies raised will go towards Bible Society work in Tanzania.
Thanks to all who attended and the Action Group members for their hard work.
