Tarore Book Launch at Waipawa

Apr 02, 2010

In the words of Claire Bibby:

"We had a fabulous day at Waipawa with the Waipawa launch of the Tarore book.

The Otane School pupils led off with a fabulous waiata and haka. They were amazing! Truly passionate.

We went inside the Exhibition Hall where Jan Gosling & Museum had put together a fabulous display of Mary Glover Bibby's artworks. Merv Rive from Bible Society, Joy Cowley and I spoke and then Joy went aside to read the Tarore story to the school children."

This book launch took place on Saturday 27 March at the Central Hawkes Bay Settlers Museum. A large number of the Bibby family were present and it was great to see so many local people come to the opening of the artwork display and the launch of Tarore and her Book.

Joy Cowley was great with the children and after reading the story to them she had a time of questions and answers. One little girl asked Joy: How old are you? Joy just beamed and told her her age. Joy then handed out free copies of the Tarore story to the children and Merv sold the large version to the adults present. Joy spent the next 45 minutes or so signing books for both the children and adults.

Waipawa turned on a beautiful hot day for the launch.

Thanks to the Bibby family and the Museum staff for such a wonderful day.
