BIBLES FOR KIWI Chaplains
THE CAUSE
Every day, chaplains across New Zealand are dedicated to transforming lives by sharing the one true hope of the world – the Bible.
Bibles play a crucial role in supporting chaplaincy work in prisons, the defence forces, and hospitals. They are essential tools for offering spiritual guidance, comfort, and hope to those who need it most.
We are proud to partner with amazing organisations and churches, including Habitat for Humanity, Tira Tūhāhā Prison Chaplaincy Aotearoa, The Interchurch Council for Hospital Chaplaincy, Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, and the New Zealand Defence Force. Together, we bring the Bible to individuals who may have never encountered it before.
Your donation makes a real difference. Join us in our mission to bring hope and transformation through the power of God’s Word.

Chris Nahi's TestImony of Transformation
“The Bible in my prison cell saved my life,” says Chris Nahi, a former rugby league star who found redemption and purpose after being imprisoned in Australia. Now, he’s transforming lives back home in New Zealand.
“I made some really bad choices. The last time I was in jail, I was paranoid and broken. I cried out to God, ‘if you’re real, help me,’ and I heard His voice saying, ‘follow me and I’ll restore you.’ The Bible was the only book in my cell, likely brought in by a chaplain. I had never been interested in it before, but it felt like a divine appointment.”
“Right away, I opened the Bible to Psalm 23. It jumped out at me, telling my life story. I was a lost sheep, walking through the valley of the shadow of death for 15 years. God’s words were exactly what I needed to hear. They spoke to my heart.”
“The next morning, I sat at the card table and started reading the Bible out loud. Scriptures that resonated with me, I wrote down. I didn’t care about the ‘tough guy’ image in prison; I just read. Other inmates started sitting closer, listening. The atmosphere in our unit changed.”
“The Bible’s wisdom and guidance uplifted me. My anxiety and paranoia vanished. The chains of addiction fell away. I realized that following Jesus and His teachings would keep me from ever returning to jail.”
“Because of that Bible, my life turned around. Just two and a half years after my first encounter with God, I opened Victory House, a Christian live-in rehabilitation program in New Zealand. We house eight people, tackling addictions like drugs, alcohol, and gambling. Our program includes a weekly recovery church service and daily Bible reading using the SOAP method: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer.”
“I always tell the boys, ‘keep your eyes on the Lord. When you stumble, get up, and focus back on Him.’ God took me out of the darkness and into the light so I can help others.”
Chris Nahi’s story is a powerful testament to the life-changing impact of the Bible. Your donations help provide Bibles to chaplains who bring hope and transformation to those in need.
