HELP SUPPORT STRUGGLING BIBLES IN
Our focus is on the Bible Societies in Algeria, Morocco, and Iraq. In these countries, all of which are 99 per cent Muslim, Bible Society leaders, staff and volunteers are facing challenges to carry out Bible mission that are difficult for us to comprehend.
Yet, despite the risks they continue to provide the Word of God to Christians and seekers in their contexts. Now these Bible Societies urgently need our support to carry out the mission in their countries.
By making a gift today, you will help:
This story, shared by the Head of the Bible Society of Iraq, highlights the effectiveness of the work they are undertaking to reach people with the Word of God.
Jamile (a woman’s name which means “Beautiful”) is an Iraqi woman, blessed with three children and a husband who works as a carpenter. However, their living conditions are exceedingly difficult due to the prevailing circumstances, with everything being prohibitively expensive and the scorching heat adding to their hardships. Among her children, one suffers from a chronic illness.
During a relief distribution, when our team handed her food rations along with the Bible, she began weeping with fervor, expressing, “I am weary of this life, and how arduous our existence has become.” The phrase, “I am tired of life,” echoed repeatedly from her lips.
Sensing her distress, a young woman from our team approached her compassionately and said, “I know someone who can change your life and grant you a fresh start.” She initiated a heartfelt conversation with the woman about Jesus Christ, sharing with her some verses from the Bible.
Now, this beautiful woman has become a faithful follower, regularly attending church, and partaking in spiritual discipleship and emotional support sessions.
Yes, I would like to help support Bible mission in Algeria, Morocco, and Iraq.

A new translation is a completely fresh translation into a language that already has Scripture. This is not based on an existing translation, but is a completely new translation, using source texts.
A revised translation updates a translation that already exists so the language is understandable to the community today.
A first translation is the first time that Scripture is made available in a language. For instance, a first Bible is the first time that language has received the full Bible. A first portion is sometimes the first time a language receives any Scripture at all, but it could also be the first time that it receives an additional portion of Scripture. For example, a language may already have the New Testament, but it then receives the Book of Ruth for the first time.
