There are over eight million homeless children in India, a number that is increasing rapidly each year. Homeless children are often exposed to petty crime and can be targeted by dangerous criminal gangs.

Some are fortunate to be sheltered in orphanages run by churches and Christian organisations. The Bible Society is supporting this work through the provision of age-appropriate Scriptures.

2017 objectives

Bible Society in India has a long history of reaching out to orphan children through its 16 Auxiliary offices located in different parts of the country.

“We have seen that the Word of God sown as seed in a child’s heart bears much fruit and is an excellent tool in touching and transforming the lives of young children.”

In 2017, the Bible Society of India aims to distribute 90,000 Scriptures including Bibles, 20,000 notebooks with Scripture verses inside, 5,000 school bags and 2,500 pairs of shoes.

Our pledge

Bible Society New Zealand has pledged to support the Bible Society in India to reach out to orphan children with Scriptures and care packages.  Will you help us in this critical task?
