Bring the Word of God To

OPPRESSED WOMEN & GIRLS

THE CAUSE

Every day, countless women around the world face discrimination and inequality. One in three women will experience violence in her lifetime. Many others endure abuse and unequal treatment at home, at work, and in their communities. Women are often denied opportunities to learn, earn, and lead, making up the majority of those living in poverty. Alarmingly, women and girls account for 72 percent of human trafficking victims, many exploited for sexual purposes.

But there is hope. Bible Societies around the globe are tackling these issues head-on, working to transform the lives of women and girls through the power of God’s Word. Our focus is on the impactful work being done in Cameroon, Peru, and India.

THE IMPACT

Your donation will help:

  • The Bible Society of Cameroon: Conduct twenty-one workshops and follow-up meetings for 210 teenage girls who have been victims of sexual exploitation. They are also hosting seven camps in different regions and distributing 245 Bibles and 600 Scripture portions.
  • The Peruvian Bible Society: Tackle domestic violence through the “Family Strengths” project, helping participants learn the Word of God in practical, life-changing ways through the distribution 13,310 Bible Study Guides.
  • The Bible Society of India: Reach 3,000 widows and suffering women through the “Empowering Christian Widows and Suffering Women of India” project. This initiative encourages Bible engagement and equips women with new skills and confidence to lead purposeful lives.

In Peru, a country which is suffering from a domestic violence crisis, 63 per cent of women have suffered some form of violence at the hands of their husband or partner. This equates to 100,000 domestic violence cases annually.

The Peruvian Bible Society is seeking to address the issue of domestic violence through its “Family Strengths” project, which you can learn more about in the video above.

One person who has attended the course is Jennifer. “The Healthy Families lessons have been a real blessing for my family because they have allowed us to learn the Word of God in a very practical way. In each lesson we saw how the Word of God had a specific orientation of how to apply it in our daily lives. We have been able to learn and challenge ourselves to put it into practice. I believe that each one of the lessons leaves a message that penetrates very deeply into our hearts. Also, the new technologies allow us to share it with other people and to go over it again,” says Jennifer
